The report combines feedback surveyed from over 250 TextUs users and data points from over 200 million texts sent to its platform in 2021. TextUs found that text messaging was the top communication channel among respondents, vastly surpassing email and phone. More than 55% said text messaging was the most effective way to communicate in their business workflows. Additionally, organizations that implement text messaging average between 35,000 and 41,000 messages each quarter.
Businesses that need to communicate quickly and effectively with diverse stakeholders are turning to text for higher response rates in less time. TextUs users average over 60% response rate on outgoing text messages. Additionally, responses come in at a median rate of 15 minutes, while email responses can take up to 90 minutes.
To attract more and faster responses, TextUs has found that shorter text messages work better. The company reports a direct correlation between message length and response rate. When messages are less than 100 characters, response rates exceed 60% and can reach 76% when message length is 50 characters or less. Additionally, response times can be as fast as 10 minutes for conversational texts for messages under 150 characters.
