Wei Leping, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Communication Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Director of the Science and Technology Committee of China Telecom Group Corporation, and Chairman of the China Optical Conference Network Seminar, gave the keynote address, as it has done every year since the first Optinet China was held in 2001.

His long list of titles should include one more: ROADM champion. Wei Leping has been advocating for the deployment of ROADMs in China for the past 15 years, and the current focus on all-optical networks is a great validation of his vision.

All optical networks 2.0 were the main topic of OptiNet China 2022. Chinese service providers plan to build new low-latency, high-bandwidth and reconfigurable networks to support the new national data center program “Computing East and West”.
