Seizure of contraband and unauthorized objects at the Regional Reception Center
SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, September 24, 2021 / CNW Telbec / – On September 17, 2021Thanks to the vigilance of staff members, contraband and unauthorized items were seized at the Regional Reception Center, a multi-level federal security facility.
The contraband and unauthorized items seized included 390.2 grams of hash, 55 grams of marijuana, 23.7 grams of shatter, seven cell phones with charging leads, two SIM cards and 292.6 grams of tobacco. The estimated total institutional value of this seizure is $ 76,402.
The Correctional Service of Canada (SCC) uses a number of tools to prevent drugs from entering its institutions. CSC is strengthening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions to help ensure a safe and secure environment for all. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to smuggle into correctional facilities.
CSC has also set up a hotline for all federal institutions so that it can receive additional information on security-related activities in CSC institutions. These activities can be related to drug use or trafficking, which can threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates and staff working in CSC institutions.
