What happened? At August 5, 2021, SMS has discovered unusual activity on some of our computer systems. SMS quickly disconnected these systems from the network and began an in-depth investigation that included working with third-party forensic specialists. This investigation determined that some of the SMS systems were subject to access by an unknown actor between July 28, 2021 and 5 August, 2021. SMS has launched a comprehensive review of its systems to identify potentially impacted data and determine what type of information and to whom it relates. As a result of its initial review, SMS worked September 21, 2021 to identify and fill in the address information of any potentially affected person.

What information was involved? At September 21, 2021 MRG has completed its in-depth review of impacted data and is in the process of educating those potentially impacted. This notice will provide details of specific information that may be affected by this incident. However, as a precaution, we are providing this notice to let people know about the issue and what steps we are taking to address it.

What SMS does. SMS takes this incident very seriously. The privacy and security of information are among our highest priorities, and we have implemented strict security measures to protect the information entrusted to us. After discovering this incident, we promptly took steps to investigate and respond, including reviewing and improving our existing policies and procedures to reduce the likelihood of a similar future event. SMS has reported this incident to federal law enforcement and is notifying affected individuals and regulators as necessary.
