Fugro wins seven-figure contract with Neptune for underwater inspections at Cygnus
Neptune Energy has awarded an underwater inspection contract for its Cygnus gas field in the southern North Sea in the United Kingdom to the Dutch geodata company Fugro.
The contract is valued at around £ 1million for Fugro.
Fugro will inspect subsea infrastructure, including pipelines and structures, and undertake prospecting activities prior to drilling campaigns on the Cygnus field.
Traditionally, data processing would be carried out by an offshore team.
However, this will be done from Fugro’s remote operations center in Aberdeen, which will reduce the costs and time associated with offshore travel.
Alexandra Thomas, Managing Director of Neptune for the UK, said: “Ensuring the integrity and maintenance of subsea infrastructure is crucial and we are delighted to award this contract to Fugro to help us achieve the highest inspection standards.
“By deploying Fugro’s innovative digital technologies, we can remotely support secure, efficient and reliable operations.
Daniel Jones, Fugro’s Director of MRI Services for Europe and Africa, said: “Fugro is delighted to be working again with Neptune Energy to support their underwater integrity management.
“By using our ROC in Aberdeen, we can complete these scopes from the ground up while maintaining our high standards of data collection. “
